Unsecured Cargo in a Crash

Most of us wear our seatbelts by now, we all know that children belong in the back, but we often don't think of something else that can be a big deal in a crash: cargo. This video shows the dangers of placing cargo improperly in a car.

Cargo should be placed in trunks, as close to the sides and rear seat as possible. This not only protects occupants in the event of a crash, it also helps to protect your cargo in a moderate rear end impact as it is farther from the rear bumper. In the rear seat, cargo should be placed in the floorboards. The shelf just under the rear window is a death trap.
