Passenger Airbag Automatic Cutoff Timeline: General Motors vehicles

Before viewing this cutoff chart, read this information post. 

Red - no cutoff (passenger airbag WILL deploy regardless of occupancy)

Blue - cutoff depends on vehicle variant

Yellow - cutoff is included, but does NOT meet FMVSS 208 advanced airbag standards

Green - cutoff is included, that DOES meet FMVSS 208 standards

Note that this chart only includes automatic, sensor-based cutoffs, not manual switch-based cutoffs. 

General Motors typically calls its automatic passenger airbag cutoff the "Passenger Sensing System". 

Blue-labeled vehicles:

The 2003-2004 Cadillac Escalade SUV variant has an automatic airbag cutoff that meets FMVSS 208 standards; the EXT sport-utility truck does not. 

The 2005 Chevy Venture does not have a cutoff; the 2005 Uplander does. The Uplander was the successor to the Venture, but production overlapped for the 2005 model year.
